Being Saved is Simple

When I was younger, I taught a first-grade Sunday school class.

I was a horrible teacher. The kids were lost, I was clueless, and most of them probably don’t remember a thing I taught them.

However, there was one subject I made crystal-clear: how to get to Heaven.

This is the one – and only – thing we need to know. Like it or not, we all die (unless we’re Raptured first. Another story.) Although our life on earth will end, it will begin anew in one of two places: Heaven or Hell. Heaven is eternal adventure, glory, and wondrousness lived with Jesus and all believers. Hell is everlasting terror, horror, and isolation.

It is possible to know now to which one you will go.

Contrary to popular belief, getting to Heaven is simple. It has nothing to do with how many good or bad deeds you have done or will do. It has nothing to do with living a certain lifestyle, or maintaining a certain number of prayers or rituals. It has nothing with what kind of person you are, or if you give a lot of money to charity, or if you belong to a denomination. It doesn’t even have anything to do with whether or not you attend church.

It does, however, have everything to do with belief.

To be marked and sealed for Heaven, you must:

Understand that you are, essentially, not a good person. This is hard to admit. We want to believe we’re good. However, think about it: if you were placed in the direst circumstances, there is nothing – nothing – you wouldn’t do. Your boundaries would quickly disappear. All forms of evil would become acceptable to you.

This is evidence that, at your core, something’s not right. If so, you’re in good company (Romans 3:23).

Understand that every one of us deserves to be punished by God. We really do. Listen, God has a standard, and every one of us has failed to meet it. We’re all guilty of deception, hatred, jealousy, and all sorts of evil.

Because of this, none of us ever deserve to be in the presence of the beautiful, wondrous Lord (Romans 6:23).

Understand that God has your ticket to Heaven. God sent Jesus Christ, His one and only Son, to earth. Jesus was born a man about 30BC, lived in Israel for approximately 33 years, preached about the Kingdom of Heaven, declared He was God’s Son, was conspired against by Jewish religious leaders, was killed by Roman executioners, was buried in the borrowed tomb of a rich man, came back to life three days later, and was taken to Heaven forty days after His resurrection.

Through all this, He maintained one thing: believe in Me, and you will be with Me. Forever.

Jesus is God’s ticket. (Romans 6:23; Romans 5:8)

Believe that Jesus is Lord. He is supernatural. He is both Man and God. He lived, died, and lived again. There’s no way around this fact. Once you believe this, everything changes. (Romans 10:9; Romans 10:13)

You are marked for Heaven.

Once you’ve chosen to believe, it can never be revoked. You are sealed. Your citizenship is in Heaven forever.

Once you mount the train of faith to the Land of God’s Grace, you can never be unseated. Your destiny is sealed. Not even all the powers of Satan and Hell can steal it from you.

My Friend, if you are unsure of your destination after death, what are you waiting for? Each day is as uncertain as the day before. You never know when your time of end will come, or how sudden it will arrive.

If you choose to wait, you are gambling with your eternal destination.

Jesus says to call upon Him while He can still be found. My Friend, if you’re still alive, He can still be found.

Don’t wait until it’s too late.

I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)
