Do you carry cash?
Do you keep an emergency $20 in your wallet – just in case you can’t make it to the ATM?
Do you prefer to make some payments using paper money instead of plastic?
If so, those days may be coming to an end.
Former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers recently called for the end of the $100 bill (the largest US bill in circulation).
The European Central Bank also plans to eliminate the 500 euro.
The reason behind the cry is to discourage criminal cash transactions.
“Illicit activities are when a million dollars weighs 2.2 pounds as with the 500 euro note rather than more than 50 pounds as would be the case if the $20 bill was the high denomination note,” Summers said.
Evidently, confiscating 78% of all cash in the U.S. (the percentage of $100 bills in circulation) is worth the trouble if it means criminals need a wheel barrel to do commerce.
So if we only have $20 bills to contend with, this means we’ll have to hand the cashier a stack if we want to pay for that new furniture set with cash.
But inflation guarantees that in ten years, that stack will double.
This is all part of a push for a cashless society, which is convenient and clean.
However, it is also prophetic.
The Bible says that in the Final Days, a cashless, digital banking system will be implemented. This system will connect to a central banking system, and no one will be able to make purchase apart from it. (Revelation 13:16-18)
We’re closer to this system than we realize.
Also, as a side note, the U.S. is also contemplating adopting a negative interest rate. This means that banks will essentially charge you for keeping – rather than spending – your money.
If you’re the type of person that likes cash, you may want to keep it with you – maybe stashed in your mattress. I’m joking, of course. Well…maybe I’m not.
Join us as we continue to watch prophecy unfold before our eyes. These are surely exciting times! Until then, be blessed!
