You’ve Dreaded It – But It’s Coming

Persecution

It alarms you.

You imagined how you would react if put in this position. Would you stand the fiery test?

But now, it’s here.

The persecution of the Church.

This Easter, murdering Christians was the goal of the explosive attack that killed 70 people – many of them children.

Bombs were detonated in a crowded park in the Pakistani city of Lahore where Christians gathered to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord. The terror group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar took responsibility for the carnage.

“The target was Christians,” said faction spokeswoman Ehsanullah Ehsan.

But that’s not all.  Since 2000, between 9,000 and 11,500 Nigerian Christians have been killed by Boko Haram, a Nigerian Islamic extremist group.

Additionally, countless Christians have lost homes, churches, properties, and businesses as a result of Nigeria’s enforcement of sharia law.

In Iraq and Syria, Christians have been forced to flee due to the violence and oppression from ISIS. In 2003, the Iraqi Christian population was 1.4 million – now, it’s dwindled to 300,000.  And in Syria, the Christian population has decreased from 1.25 million to 500,000 in just five short years.

Christians, take note of the preview.

Is all this prophetic?

Absolutely.

Jesus said that in the Last Days, we will be “handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of Me.” (Matthew 24:9)

All nations.

Including the one in which you’re currently living in.

Are you ready for what’s coming?  Is it even possible to be prepared?

Thankfully, Jesus says it is.  When we are arrested, He will give us our words (Matthew 10:19.)

Amongst all this suffering, one thing is certain: our Lord is the Mighty Lion of Judah. When He comes, He will dash nations to pieces and show Himself as the Warrior King (Revelation 19:11-16.)

No longer will people see Him as only the Suffering Lamb.

And when we are oppressed in this life; when we are persecuted and shunned and treated poorly, it is simply evidence that our God is the One True God.  He is the Holy One, the Everlasting, the Father of all, the King of kings.  One day His banner will fly in Zion and all His children will gather to Him.

After all, people kill only those who threaten them.

Until then, stand tall and lift your head high, Mighty Saint.  Your Father in Heaven is watching.

The Day is coming when Jesus will judge the quick and the dead.
